An event not to be missed by lovers of snow shoes and untouched nature is “Traccia Bianca” edition zero, which will take place in the Veglia Devero Nature Park on 20th February 2005. It consists of a trek with snow shoes open to all, (competitors and non) to discover the natural beauty of a portion of the western Alps where time seems to stand still. The event is organised by the Verbania-Intra and Pallanza CAI sections.

The route of the race covers a space of about 8km with a rise and drop of 300 metres, across larch woods, plateau and alpine pastures of middle mountain. Halfway through the “race”, the well numbered group of snow shoe trekkers (about 400 are expected) will reach the frozen over Devero Lake, which, in perfect Arctic style, will be crossed on foot.

There is a wealth of prizes to be won. Besides the awards for the winners, a raffle will be extracted with a 14 day trek in the Preandina forest, in South America on offer.
