Con il voto all’unanimità del Congresso del Cio, riunito oggi a Tokyo, viene ufficialmente inserito lo sci alpinismo tra gli sport olimpici per l’edizione di Milano-Cortina 2026 dei Giochi.

La FISI, Federazione Italiana Sport invernali comunica – www.fisi.org – che è stata “Accolta pienamente la proposta dell’Esecutivo, che prevede cinque nuovi eventi da medaglia: sprint e individuale maschile, sprint e individuale femminile e la staffetta mista. Potranno partecipare 48 atleti in totale, 24 uomini e 24 donne, e il contingente dovrà rientrare fra i 2900 atleti totali previsti per i Giochi.
“E’ una grande notizia per l’Italia, per la Federazione e per la nostra nazionale di sci alpinismo – ha detto il Presidente della FISI, Flavio Roda – che è una delle più forti al mondo. Abbiamo campioni come Robert Antonioli, che ha già vinto quattro Coppe del mondo in carriera, come Michele Boscacci, come Davide Magnini e molti altri. Ora nella loro carriera c’è un obiettivo in più, e di grande prestigio internazionale. La Federazione farà tutto il possibile per mettere la squadra nella condizione di crescere ancora e ben figurare ai Giochi del 2026. Sono certo che anche gli atleti e i tecnici faranno del loro meglio”.
Tra le direttive imposte dal Cio figura anche quella che lo sci alpinismo non potrà avere un sito olimpico a sé stante, ma dovrà essere disputato in uno dei siti olimpici già identificati.
Le motivazioni che hanno portato all’ok del Cio sono: il successo dello sci alpinismo ai Giochi Olimpici della Gioventù di Losanna 2020, la grande popolarità dello sport in Italia e la grande crescita di appassionati in Europa”.
ISMF, International Ski Mountaineering Federation, asserts:
The decision has unanimously made today during the 138th IOC session in Tokyo on the occasion of the Summer Olympics. After the meeting held in June, the IOC Executive Board has formally accepted the addition of skimo proposed by the Organising Committee. The programme will include five medal events with a total of 48 athletes at the starting line, keeping the same format of the Lausanne 2020 Youth Olympic Games.
Thomas Kähr, ISMF President, asserts: “We are Olympic! We are writing an important page in the history of winter sports. After many years of commitment, efforts and passionate work we have finally reached the top step and realised the famous Olympic Dream. It has been a long and intense path, but now the satisfaction is unthinkable and the skimo community must be proud of this achievement.
I am sure that all my colleagues and the entire world of ski mountaineering are feeling an indescribable emotion in this moment and I can assure that the ISMF will do its utmost to present a magnificent sport at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.”
